Way to Go Journal lessons promote the six pillars of character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship) and the six success skills (learning, self-discipline, diligence, positivity, perseverance and resilience) also provide writing and discussion opportunities to enhance critical thinking and other academic skills. Teachers in any class and every grade can integrate a 10-12 minute lesson incorporating compelling images, quotations and thought-provoking short writing and discussion activities that focus on each of the three core domains of student development: academic, social/emotional and character (all lessons are keyed to the Model Standards of Academic, Social, Emotional and Character Development).
