Shoplifting or retail fraud is a major concern for retailers and parents alike. According to the National Association for Shoplifting Prevention (NASP), $13 billion is stolen each year – about $35 million a day. The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) adds that around 25 percent of those apprehended for the crime are ages 13 to 17. Many teens don’t even perceive it as a big deal. According to the NASP, 89 percent of kids say they know other kids who have shoplifted, and 66 percent say they hang out with those kids.
This program, using cognitive behavioral based strategies and approaches, guides teens and adults through an educational process to help them with personal self-control issues. Areas of study include theft, shoplifting and writing bad checks. Its mission is to help youth put an end to their disruptive behaviors and to build solid respectable futures based on a foundation of ethical decision making and a genuine desire to make the right choices, for the right reasons, for their own well-being and for the well-being of their families and their communities.
The Moral Kombat program targets teens and their families. Through intervention, training, and curriculum – this program is able to achieve nearly an 80% success rate in recidivism studies.
Through incorporating the Six Pillars of Character®, the Moral Kombat book series meets the specific needs of helping at-risk teens deal with decision-making, substance abuse, truancy, parenting, life skills, and criminal behavior.
